Last night, the casts of the 1984 (Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts) and the 2016 Ghostbusters (Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones) joined forces on the Jimmy Kimmel Live stage to celebrate Ghostbusters Day and promote the upcoming film’s release on July 15th. Guillermo as the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man was the highlight of the evening and it’s pretty evident that Bill Murray has an almost unhealthy attraction for that character. You’ll notice there’s a couple of different outfits worn, some of these must have been shot earlier in the day.

Ray Parker Jr. showed up to sing the Ghostbusters theme song and host a Ghostbusters cast dance party. Both casts had high praise for each other and the upcoming film, as one would expect. The videos are below, take a look and let us know if you think the whole thing seems as awkward to you when they talk about the movie as it did to many of us.

Kimmel took time to make fun of those unhappy with the new movie.

So, there it is. We got a couple of good bits from Murray and Aykroyd, it seemed like more of a meet and greet than anything else. Summing it up in one word would be: Disappointing. As a viewer there just didn’t seem to be enough there before the show moved on to the next bit. It’s Ghostbusters Day and it just seemed lacking. When was the last time the original cast was together on stage to talk about Ghostbusters? Perhaps it’s just us, but it seemed like a missed opportunity.

What did you think?
